A gentle weekly rhythm

Enough time to settle in, with room left for childhood.

Part-time preschool can be a thoughtful first step when your child is ready for a small-group school experience and your family wants a rhythm that still leaves space in the week. At Deborah’s Rising Stars Preschool, children come together two mornings each week for familiar routines, lively discovery, and the kind of connection that helps a new setting begin to feel known.

Our Tuesday and Thursday schedule runs from 9:30-Noon. The morning gives children time to arrive, participate, explore, move, and say goodbye without rushing through the parts that matter. An optional Wednesday may be available for an additional fee for families who would like another day.

Our setting

Small group, real attention.

Rising Stars is a Recorded Program with the State of Oregon Children’s Learning Division. Small classes make it easier for children to be noticed, encouraged, and supported through the everyday moments of learning together.

What a morning holds

Learning that makes room for wiggles, wonder, and belonging.

Children learn best when their minds and bodies are both invited in. Our mornings bring together a dependable flow with plenty of chances to try, create, and connect.

Arrive together

Circle time, stories, songs, and warm hellos help children ease into the day and feel part of the group.

Explore hands-on

Letters, sounds, numbers, science concepts, and manipulatives invite children to notice, test ideas, and build early confidence.

Move and imagine

Music, dance, fine and gross motor activities, and open gym time give active learners room to use their whole selves.

More than a morning out

The small things children practice here add up.

Preschool gives children a chance to do important work in a setting made for their age. They practice arriving with a grown-up, finding their place in a group, following a familiar rhythm, and coming back to you with stories from the day. Those repeated experiences can make a new routine feel less mysterious and more like something they can handle.

They also get time to make choices, use materials, listen to others, and begin again when something is tricky. A block tower falls. A turn with a favorite item takes waiting. A new song feels silly at first. In a caring preschool morning, these are not interruptions. They are the everyday moments where confidence, flexibility, language, and friendship begin to grow.

Because Rising Stars includes music, dance, movement, and imaginative play alongside early learning, children have more than one way to join in. A child who is quiet at circle time may come alive during a song. A child who needs to move can use that energy in open gym. A child who loves to observe has room to watch, wonder, and try when they are ready.

Part-time days also give families a chance to build a school rhythm gradually. Your child has time to anticipate a familiar morning, then time at home to rest, play, and bring new experiences into the rest of the week. For many children, the predictability of returning to the same caring setting on the same days becomes a reassuring anchor.

There is no single right way for a child to begin preschool. Some children step in eagerly. Others take their time at the doorway, stay close to a teacher, or need several mornings before the routine feels comfortable. What matters is a setting that respects that beginning and gives children consistent chances to grow more sure of themselves.

We want families to feel they can ask honest questions before they decide. If you are comparing schedules, considering a first separation, or simply looking for a joyful place where your child can learn through movement and play, we would be glad to tell you more about what a morning at Rising Stars is like.

Is part-time preschool a good fit?

A first school experience can start small and still feel big.

Families often look for a part-time program because they want their child to have the joy of a preschool community while keeping a familiar home routine. Two mornings a week can give children repeated practice with separation, listening, sharing, and trying new things, all within a schedule that feels manageable.

At Rising Stars, the goal is not to hurry children toward the next stage. It is to give them a warm place to practice being part of a group, expressing an idea, moving their bodies, and discovering what they can do.

Rising Stars may feel right for your family if you are looking for:

  • A preschool program for a child ages 3–5.
  • A part-time Tuesday and Thursday schedule.
  • Music, movement, dance, and imaginative play alongside early learning.
  • A small-group environment with individual attention.
  • A preschool home in Troutdale with a welcoming, familiar feel.

The practical details

Clear answers for a big family decision.

Choosing preschool is about more than finding a time on the calendar. You are looking for a place where your child can be cared for, challenged gently, and welcomed as the person they already are. You may be wondering how they will handle goodbyes, whether they will have enough movement, or if a part-time routine is the right place to begin. Those are worthwhile questions, and we are happy to talk them through with you.

We meet at 27400 SE Stark St. in Troutdale, inside the Faith United Methodist Church building, alongside Deborah Messinger School of Dance. The familiar location gives families a clear place to arrive, and the preschool morning is designed around the things young children need most: a warm welcome, a steady rhythm, meaningful play, and adults who notice their growth.

Families can ask about current enrollment options, tuition, sibling discount details, and whether an optional Wednesday is available. If Rising Stars sounds promising, the easiest next step is to share a little about your child and the kind of preschool experience you are hoping to find.

When you reach out, you do not need to have every answer prepared. A child’s age, your preferred schedule, and the questions on your mind are a good place to begin. We can help you understand the program and decide whether it supports the start you want for your family.
